This report provides some solutions to meeting the communication requirements of people with the most complex needs – what works and why they are essential. Within the term “complex needs” are included people with profound intellectual impairments, people with severe autism, and people whose severe learning disability or autism is complicated by behaviour labelled as challenging.
The report is aimed at a wide range of people from practitioners and service providers, to families of people with complex needs. The views of family members, researchers and practitioners are reflected in the report.
