The Alzheimer’s Society are working nationally to … as a part of their …five year plan.
Use these links to find out how to work towards becoming a dementia friendly community in your area.
Dementia friendly communities are where:
“…people will be aware of and understand more about dementia; people with dementia and their carers will be encouraged to seek help and support; and people with dementia will feel included in their community, be more independentand have more choice and control over their lives.”
The foundation criteria have been developed from feedback from a number of stakeholders and communities that are becoming dementia friendly to act as a basis from which to develop local plans which participants then report back on to show how they’re progressing.
