Disability access – a good practice guide for the arts.

Publication date: 2004
Ranking: useful

Originally written in the context of Lottery funding and the arrival of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995, this document still offers a good toolkit for assessing arts venues and services. It is a comprehensive guide to increasing participation in the arts by disabled people as artists, audience members, participants and employees. It includes checklists and an action plan template.

Importantly, it emphasises the need not to just address disability, but all areas of diversity and inclusion.

The DDA is now superseded by the Equality Act 2010.
