The paper describes the work of the V&A entitled “FuturePlan” to improve access to the museum’s collections and to enhance the building’s architecture.
It shows how past access work was not comprehensive in its approach and favoured physically impaired people. The V&A have moved on and a range of work has now been completed including audio description, touch objects and recorded descriptions of objects that can be downloaded on to Smart phones.
