This article describes how local communities were encouraged to become involved in helping to regenerate a run down park in Brooklyn.
In addition to traditional methods such as meetings and email contacts, the park’s management staff paired that with speaking to people using the park for activities, going to the existing local community meetings and targeting people whose first language wasn’t English through existing groups and community leaders.
It forms a part of of US cities ‘ parks departments work to involve people from Black and ethnic minority groups who may normally be more excluded.
